1.) What is the BaquaSpa Water Care System?

The BaquaSpa Water Care System is a bromine-free and chlorine-free system that provides powerful long-lasting protection against bacteria. The active anti-microbial ingredient in BaquaSpa Sanitizer with Stain & Scale Control is polyhexamethylene biguanide. In addition to effective bacteria control, BaquaSpa Sanitizer with Stain & Scale Control protects against staining and discoloration due to metals, is considerably more stable in hot water, and lasts much longer that traditional spa treatments—so you don't have to test the water or add sanitizer nearly as often. Because the BaquaSpa Water Care System is bromine-free and chlorine-free, there's no harsh chemical odor, no burning eyes, and no bleached hair or dry, itchy skin.

2.) How often do I need to drain the water in my spa when using the BaquaSpa Water Care System?

All spa chemical manufacturers recommend draining the spa after a period of time. Although the BaquaSpa Water Care System is persistent at controlling bacteria, it is important to remember that a spa is a small body of water. So continual use means bathers will deposit large amounts of dirt, perspiration, body oils, deodorant, makeup and other contaminants into a relatively small volume of water. If your spa is heavily used (approximately two people, three times a week, a half hour at a time), we recommend that you change your water every 60 days. If the spa is used less frequently, changing the water every 90 days should be adequate. Naturally, if a serious water quality problem arises, you'll want to change the water immediately.

3.) How often should I clean my spa’s filter and cover?

We recommend that you clean your spa's filter every 4-6 weeks with BaquaSpa Filter Cleaner following label directions. A clean filter is a key ingredient to maintaining sparkling, clear water. We recommend cleaning your spa's cover approximately every other week with BaquaSpa Cover Cleaner. Pay particular attention to the water side of the cover. A frequent cleaning of your cover will protect it and keep it smelling fresh.

4.) Is the BaquaSpa Water Care System compatible with my spa’s ozonator?

BaquaSpa is compatible with an ozonator. You should follow label directions for all BaquaSpa products. If you are using an ozonator, we recommend that you test your BaquaSpa Sanitizer with Stain & Scale Control level every four days instead of once a week (as recommended for spas without an ozonator).

5.) Even after adding BaquaSpa Waterline Control, I still sometimes get a "bathtub" ring build-up on my spa. What’s the cause and how do I prevent this?

There are potentially many causes for why this is occurring.
Make sure your spa water is properly balanced. Test to make sure that total alkalinity, calcium hardness, pH, BaquaSpa Sanitizer with Stain & Scale Control and metal levels are all within their acceptable ranges.

Ensure that the proper start-up dose (1 oz. per every 100 gallons of water) of BaquaSpa Waterline Control was used at start up, and that it was added prior to the start-up dose of BaquaSpa Sanitizer with Stain & Scale Control.

Allow 15 minutes between BaquaSpa Waterline Control and BaquaSpa Sanitizer with Stain & Scale Control additions.
If all of the above are correct, it may be necessary to add your maintenance dose of BaquaSpa Waterline Control earlier than the recommended seven days. Try adding it at the first sign of any build-up in order to control the situation. Remove any existing waterline deposits with BaquaSpa Surface Cleaner and a Spa Cleaning Pad.


6.) Sometimes, I notice a "musty" odor with my spa? How do I prevent this?

There are several "culprits" that may be the cause of the odor.
First:
Clean your spa cover (both sides) thoroughly with BaquaSpa Cover Cleaner following label directions. Ensure that your spa area has proper ventilation if it's indoors.

Make sure that you are using the right amount of chemicals for your spa size. If you are using your spa more than 3 times a week, be sure to use the higher maintenance dose of BaquaSpa Shock (2 oz. per 100 gallons of water).

Make sure that no incompatible chemicals have been added to the spa.

Check to see when you last drained your spa. Spas with water older than 60–90 days should be drained and refilled.
Finally, if the odor still persists, drain the spa and clean the spa surface with BaquaSpa Surface Cleaner and refill with fresh water.
