Grundfos Circulation Pump Retro Kit for replacing the Sundance Spas Laing pumps and spas with a 3/4 inch barbed fitting.*

We have designed a retro kit for those who would rather not use a Laing pump on their spa. The Grundfos pump was used on Sundance Spas in the mid 90's, then they changed to the Laing Pump. To make this conversion, we recommend a qualified electrician or service tech to change this out for you. Grundfos uses a 1 inch barbed connection so it is necessary to reduce the plumbing back to 3/4 inch when hooking up to the existing lines. To do this, you may have to relocate the Grunfos Pump to a different location under the cabinet (see picture above).

The Grundfos Circulation Pump Retro Kit includes all the components for replacing the Laing Circulation Pump with 3/4 inch barbs:

1. Grundfos Circ Pump, 570GPH 0.35A, 240Volt, 1 Speed.

2. Barb fittings (2) 1 inch to 3/4 inch reducer barb

3. Hose clamps (2) 3/4 inch hose clamps, (4) 1 inch hose clamps

4. Clear hose 1 inch hose for making transition (3 feet supplied) If you need additional, may purchase from local hardware.

5. Hubble fitting for electrical line connection into Grundfos connector box.

Installation help for Sundance 800 Systems:

Decide the location in which the pump fittings and connections will work in your application. The barb that comes horizontally off the face of the pump is the suction and the Barb that comes off the Side of the pump is the return. Note on this installation the Grundfos Pump terminal box was turned to change the position on the pump to accom0date the area in which the pump return had to be positioned (instructions are included with pump for repositioning of the terminal box. You must use your own pump wire off the old pump to hook into the Grundfos. Use the hubble fitting when installing the wire into the terminal box. This screws into the terminal box and the wire is then installed through the fitting and tightened down. Wire nut the 2 leads and hook the Ground to the ground terminal (wiring diagram supplied with pump)

Now for the plumbing: You must transition from the 1 inch barbed fitting on the Grundfos to the 3/4 inch barbed fitting on your existing plumbing. To do this you need to position the pump where it will sit and using the barb reducers, clamps and hoses provided, plumb in the pump. The return must hook up to the hose connected to the bottom of the heater, and the suction hooked up to the line coming out of the spa that was hooked up to the suction of the old pump. Do all your final connections and then fill the spa. Make sure and fill thru the filter port to prime the pump. When ready to turn on, turn the system on, run the main pump to help prime and make sure the pump is primed and water is flowing through the pump.
